The Way to Follow Jesus According to the Gospel of LukeSample
Day 18 - Luke 20
Handling Opposition
Do you easily take offense when your credibility is being questioned?
Jesus’ authority to teach and heal was under constant scrutiny by the Pharisees. Notice how Jesus often responded with either a question or a parable instead of a defense.
How often do we quickly respond with an emotional and sometimes heated defense when we believe we are being accused or misunderstood? What do you do when in spite of your best intentions, those who oppose you do their best to discredit you?
Do you have the confidence that if you depend upon the Spirit of the Lord to give you wisdom, grace and love for your enemies, that you can overcome evil with good?
If so, God will enable you, reward you and cause you to be carried by Him in triumphal procession. And in the process, you can share the truth with the compassion, mercy and love that Jesus shows when confronting your enemies.
Living with an unrestrained zeal for God and declaring the gospel of Jesus prepares you to handle anything the devil throws your way.
How are you going about overcoming your adversaries and fueling a passionate zeal for the Lord and His kingdom?
