Wives Who Win for Christ: Influencing Your Unsaved Husband Through Discipleship by Dr. Treal Ravenel

DAY 3 OF 6

Day 3: Pray in Faith

Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”

Prayer is not just a ritual; it’s a powerful lifeline that connects you to God and can change the course of your husband’s life. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, we are encouraged to pray without ceasing. As you pray for your husband, you are engaging in spiritual warfare, inviting God’s intervention in his life.

In your prayers, embody the characteristics of Jesus, demonstrating compassion and humility. Resist the temptation to approach prayer pridefully out of judgment regarding your husband’s spiritual journey. Instead, pray with love and grace, asking God to work in his heart.

You might find yourself in a situation where your husband is facing challenges—whether at work or in personal struggles. Instead of feeling helpless, you have the power of prayer at your disposal. By committing to pray for him and with him, you demonstrate your love and support, and you invite God into the situation.

In addition, by praying faithfully and with love, you create a nurturing environment that invites your husband to explore his own faith journey.

Application:

Think about a season when your husband faces a challenging project at work. He comes home stressed and overwhelmed. Instead of merely assuring him everything will be fine, you commit to praying for him daily. You ask him to share specific concerns and, together, you create a prayer list.

Every evening, you pray for his strength, clarity, and peace. A week later, he comes home excited, sharing that the project was a success. You tell him, "I was praying for you every day," and he pauses, absorbing the weight of your words. This acknowledgment of prayer plants a seed of curiosity in him about the power of faith.

Devotional Reflection:

Reflect on the power of prayer in your relationship. How have you seen God work through your prayers for your husband? What specific areas can you commit to praying for him right now?

Practical Steps:

1. Keep a prayer journal to track your prayers for your husband and any answers you receive.

2. Invite your husband to share his concerns and pray together regularly.

3. Be open about how God has answered your prayers, encouraging him to see the reality of faith in action.

Closing Prayer:

"Lord, teach me to pray faithfully for my husband. May my prayers deepen our bond and draw him closer to You. Amen."
