Good Faith

DAY 4 OF 20

Have you ever run a marathon? If you have, congratulations to you! You know firsthand just how much work it takes to get there. But even if you haven’t run the race yourself, you likely get the effort required to complete it. You don’t just show up on race day with no training, no experience, and no idea how to finish the next 26.2 miles alive. No, to run your best possible race, you put in the time before your feet hit the starting line. You train by running daily for weeks—if not months—in advance. You do short runs, long runs, and strength training. You learn how to set your pace and fuel your body. You put in all the work before so that by the time race day comes, you’re coming in ready to run to the best of your body’s capability.

Similarly, this is how faith propels us forward in life. If we wait until the moment we need to draw on it to incorporate it into our lives, our foundation won’t be as strong. But if we start making it a part of our everyday lives—if we run the race of life propelled forward by faith in every aspect of our lives—we’ll know we’re running well. And when it’s all said and done, we can say we finished strong because we finished faithfully. This week, talk to your Small Group about how you can encourage each other to run forward in faith in your lives.

About this Plan

Good Faith

We’re told to have faith that certain things will happen, to put our faith in ourselves, to keep the faith, to be faithful. But while phrases like that get tossed around in our vocabulary all the time, have you ever stopped to wonder what faith is really all about? At its core, faith is all trust, hope, and confidence. In this devotional, we’ll look at how putting our faith in Jesus shapes the way we live.
