Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11

DAY 4 OF 14

“He Is”

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” —Hebrews 11:6

How do we please the Creator of the Universe? Through faith! But why does faith please God? Because faith is the avenue that brings to pass everything that is available in His Kingdom. In yesterday’s devotion, we learned that faith is established through a relationship with God and His Word. Having faith is not about building my life on someone else’s understanding or revelation of God, but about you and me having a personal pursuit of God.

As I pursue Him, I come to know who He is. Faith is always in the present tense; it is coming to God and believing that He is! This two-letter word “is” reveals certainty; it is a matter of fact. As I study God’s Word, I gain revelation of who He is. When you come to God and believe that He is, it opens your eyes to the truth that He is everything the Word says He is. Faith is always about pursuing Him as the only answer. When I put Him first and seek after Him, He is the one who brings about the manifestation of His Kingdom in our lives. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

The last part of Hebrews 11:6 tells us that when we “believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” One of the greatest scriptural examples of this is the woman with the issue of blood in Matthew 9:20-22. It shows us that she believed “He is” a Healer, which drove her to seek Him and touch the hem of His garment. When she did, she received the reward of her faith.

Another scriptural example we can hold on to today is 2 Peter 1:2, which says, “Grace and peace are multiplied to us according to our knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.” So, if you only know Him at a certain level, you can only operate in grace and peace at that level. But as I gain greater knowledge of who He is, I can operate at a greater level of grace and peace. So today, as we live a life of faith, we must always be in a position to seek Him and get to know Him, for He truly is a rewarder of those who seek Him!

About this Plan

Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11

Faith is more than a term—it’s essential to our Christian life. It’s not a sermon, denomination, or movement. Romans 1:17 and Galatians 3:11 remind us that "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 11:1 also teaches, "Without faith, it is impossible to please Him." As children of God, we must cultivate and strengthen our faith. Over the next 14 days, Pastor Justin Bridges will lead us through Hebrews 11, showing us how to apply faith in our lives and how to live victoriously by faith, just like those heroes of faith who went before us.
