31 Values to Pray for Your Kids

DAY 7 OF 31

Justice

In a world often marred by inequality and wrongdoing, we want our children to stand firm in their commitment to fairness, compassion, and integrity, with a strong sense of justice.

Psalm 11:7 reminds us that the Lord loves righteousness and justice and that those who seek justice will see His face. Pursuing justice is a human endeavor and a divine calling. We want our children to be inspired to act justly, knowing that it pleases God and aligns them with His character.

Micah 6:8 clearly outlines what the Lord requires of us: to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. We should embrace this decisive mandate, integrating justice, mercy, and humility into our daily lives. True justice goes hand in hand with compassion and humility and is central to living a life that honors God.

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus shares the parable of the persistent widow who seeks justice from an unjust judge. This story illustrates two things we should focus on. First, there is injustice in the world, and sometimes, with the power and authority to help, they do not move on behalf of those affected. As Christians, we should help those in need and bridge the gap, tangibly providing love by meeting their needs. Second, God is not like the unjust judge. If we approach others with the same mindset of justice and love that our God inhabits, we will see Him moving on our behalf. This will help them not lose heart and trust that God will help them stand up for what is right.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we lift our children to you, asking that you instill a deep commitment to justice. Help them understand that pursuing justice reflects your character and a calling for all who follow you. May they act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you daily. Please give them the courage to stand up for what is right, the compassion to care for those in need, and the perseverance to seek justice even in the face of challenges. May they always trust in your promise that you love righteousness and will ultimately bring about your perfect justice. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
