31 Values to Pray for Your Kids

DAY 18 OF 31

Perseverance

In our fast-paced world, perseverance is a fantastic trait that will cause our children to stand out. So we should help our children develop a spirit of perseverance. This steadfastness will enable them to press on in adversity and hardship. In a world filled with trials and challenges, the call to perseverance becomes a beacon of hope, guiding us through the darkest times.

In Hebrews 12:1, we are encouraged to run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Perseverance is not a solitary journey but a marathon run in the company of Christ our King. As we teach our children to fix their eyes on Jesus, we equip them with the strength and endurance to overcome every obstacle that lies ahead.

James 1:12 assures us that the blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, for when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. This promise is an anchor for our faith, reminding us that our trials are not in vain but ultimately leading us toward a glorious reward.

In 2 Corinthians 11:12-27, we read of Paul's remarkable perseverance in the face of countless trials and hardships. Despite facing persecution, imprisonment, and physical suffering, Paul remained steadfast in his commitment to Christ, declaring, "When I am weak, then I am strong." His example should inspire us to persevere with courage and resilience, trusting in the sufficiency of God's grace to sustain us through every trial.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we come before you with hearts burdened by life's challenges and uncertainties. We pray for our children that you would fill them with a spirit of perseverance rooted in faith and hope.

Grant them the strength to endure every trial and hardship that comes their way. May they focus on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith, drawing strength and courage from His presence.

Help them to embrace their trials, knowing that through perseverance, their character is being refined and their faith strengthened. May they persevere under trial, knowing you are with them every step of the way, guiding and sustaining them with your unfailing love.

May our children be like Paul, persevering with courage and resilience, even in adversity. May their lives be a testament to the power of faith and the sufficiency of your grace to sustain us through every trial. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
