Following Christ

DAY 4 OF 12

Following Means Facing Storms

The storms of life are very real and sometimes very unexpected! A health crisis, a relationship breakdown, a financial downturn, or a job loss can hit you out of left field and leave you completely shocked. Following Jesus doesn’t leave you exempt from the struggles and setbacks of life, but you can be one hundred percent guaranteed of His presence that never leaves you, not even for a second of the storm that you are in the midst of.

Many times, before God calms the storm around you, He first calms the storm within you. The storm within is usually most heightened when our heart is anxious or weighed down. Storms are also stirred up within us when our thoughts are racing, and our mind is muddled up and blurry. When we walk with Jesus in complete surrender to Him, He promises that His peace will be with us to guard our heart and mind. He also promises that His joy will be in us and that our joy will be made complete.

What an assurance! Who ever heard of peace and joy in the midst of storms? Yet, that is our inheritance as children of God!

When you follow Him as real as the storms are around you, more real is the presence of an all-powerful God who with a word, can still them. This knowledge in itself should bring us the greatest comfort knowing that the winds and waves obey Him, both in the physical and spiritual realm.

Storms shouldn’t scare you any more because the one who calms them is with you!

Declaration: I can be of good cheer for Christ has overcome the world!
