Growing in Truth – For KidsSample
Read John 8:32
Think
God’s Word is full of truth, and we read a few days ago that Jesus is truth. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He sets us free from the punishment we deserve because of our sins. That doesn’t mean you will never make a bad choice, have a bad thought, or sin again. It just means that Jesus, when we ask Him to, forgives us when we make mistakes. Now that you know the truth, it’s a whole lot less stressful trying to be good and perfect all the time. When you make a mistake, stop and tell Jesus that you messed up. Then, thank Him because He’s already forgiven you. That’s truly living in freedom!
Talk
Ask yourself: How does it feel to forgive someone else?
Ask a grownup: When was the last time you had to say you were sorry?
Discuss together: Why is it hard to admit that we make mistakes and say we are sorry for it?
Pray
Dear Jesus, I need your help today. Good choices and habits are hard. I am not strong enough to always make the wise choices, and I certainly can’t set myself free of temptation and sin. I need you to save me every day. Thank you for dying on the cross and defeating sin forever and setting me free. Amen.
