Becoming a Son That Pleases the Father

DAY 20 OF 30

GRADUATE FROM ACCEPTANCE TO APPROVAL (1)

As we have seen earlier, while acceptance is unconditional with God, approval is not. When you get born again, you are accepted into the company of the Saints. However, this does not qualify you for approval. The statement, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”, deals with our Christian walk and how we must begin to grow and mature till we get to that second stage, where we are not just enjoying the Father but giving back to the Father.

A lot of Christians think that they are cheating God if they only stay at the first stage, but the truth is that they are only cheating themselves. As a natural father, there are things you know but can’t discuss with your child because he/she is too young to understand. Similarly, there are spiritual secrets the Father only discusses with sons who are growing, maturing, and giving Him pleasure.

The sad truth is that a mature and committed servant will have more access to the father’s resources than an immature son. God will keep some things that belong to you in the hands of someone else until you are mature enough to receive them as we see in Galatians 4:1. The heir will be unable to come into his inheritance as long as he remains a child, and it is his responsibility to determine how long that will be. In this context, being a child or an adult has nothing to do with age; rather, it deals with awareness, understanding, and response. The response starts at the point you start to accept responsibilities. Maturity does not come with age but with responsibility, consciousness, and awareness.

PRAYER: No servant will take my Kingdom inheritance. I grow into maturity to possess my possession in Christ Jesus. Amen!
