90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for WomenSample
Why do we talk so much about the need to forgive? Unforgiveness is a roadblock. It’s a foothold. Yes, forgiveness is difficult. Yes, some offenses seem unforgivable. Forgiving someone doesn’t make their actions any less wrong. They are certainly responsible for their actions against you, but you are responsible for your response to them.
Like we discussed yesterday, withholding forgiveness can lead to other sins. Unforgiveness is a sin in and of itself. Forgiveness, like your relationship with God, is a daily act of surrender.
Think of your own sin. Would someone else consider it unforgivable? Christ died and forgave you for your sin just as He died for the sins of those who have hurt you. You were not forgiven any more or any less than anyone else. The difference is you have accepted that forgiveness and gift of mercy.
Pray today for God to begin (or continue) to soften your heart toward the act of forgiveness. You may not be freed of the hurt (forgiveness does not mean forgetting), but you can be freed from the burden of anger, resentment and bitterness.
