God's Great Victories Sample
Day 6: Unlikely heroes
Think About:
In those days, women didn’t fight battles. They were not considered those who could be heroes or defeat the enemy. Nobody thought they were strong enough. God doesn’t see us the same as others do. He is not limited by what people think should and shouldn’t happen. He can use anyone, at any time, to do great things for Him.
Sisera was a coward. He ran away and didn’t care about his army. When Sisera went into the tent of Jael, he thought he was going to be safe. He never thought she would kill him. He just thought he could stay and sleep. But Jael killed Israel’s enemy and won the victory, just as Deborah had said would happen.
Satan is like Sisera. He doesn’t care about anyone. AND…. He wants to be able to come into your life and be safe there.
What now?
How can you be like Deborah and Jael?
You can decide that no matter who you are or what others think of you, you can do great things for God when He asks you.
You can choose to never allow your life be a ‘safe place’ for the enemy. You can defeat Him by giving your life to Jesus and repenting of your sin. You can choose to forgive, to love and to treat others how you want to be treated. You can overcome him by choosing to obey Jesus and becoming more and more like Him in the way you think, the way you speak and how you live.
You can lead others like Deborah because of the example you set in how you live.
