A Kid's Guide To Matthew

DAY 6 OF 7

We Need To Show Love To Those Who Seem Least Important

Oh no! That pool lady needs help picking up all the papers that spilled from her bag before this wind blows everything away. But you don’t want to be late. You’re on your way to the Spelling Bee and you can spell v-i-c-t-o-r-y. But nobody wins if you walk right by someone in need.

Score! That same lady is in need of getting to the auditorium as fast as you because she’s a j-u-d-g-e! She’s not going to make you a winner for helping her. But she knows your life spells compassion and kindness. In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus told a story about people who helped others (sheep) and those who looked the other way (goats). When you help the least person expected, Jesus said, it’s like you’re helping Me. And you know what that make you? Spell it: l-o-v-i-n-g.

What stops you from, or nudges you toward, helping someone who is really in need, even if that person looks rough around the edges or seems like they won’t even be thankful?

Spell out for yourself ideas on people in need around you any given week. Who is the greatest? Who is the least? How might you help the least of these in ways that mean more?
