Radiant YTH Advent

DAY 23 OF 23

Have you ever seen a movie where you just really dislike the ‘bad guy’? Like the actor/actress did such a good job at being the antagonist you almost grew a personal anger towards them? The first time this happened to me was in the movie Gladiator, and I remember being so annoyed and upset at what this ‘bad guy’ was doing that I couldn’t look at the actor the same in any of their movies afterwards. It was a lasting visual and emotion of wanting justice. I won’t spoil the movie, but like most movies, good wins over evil. And in today’s devotional, not only does good win over evil, but good CRUSHES evil for good.

Paul was warning the Christians in Rome about false teachers scouring the streets. They were intentionally finding naive and new christians to lie to them about Jesus in an effort to inflate their roles in the city. It was evil! So evil that Paul associated them with Satan! But soon after his warning, he brought hope and a good news for all of us to stand on. He said this in Romans 16:20 NIV: “20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”

Paul is affirming to the Christians in Rome that because of what Jesus did on the cross, Satan will soon be UNDER your feet (Revelation 20:1-3)! But every victory God wins for us right now is a preview of that event. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of the power and victory that came from Jesus and all He did. So here’s the bottom line: God’s peace is powerful and victorious! So when chaos tries to enter the chat, remember: The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. And God’s peace is powerful and victorious.

  • Bottom Line: The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. God’s peace is powerful and victorious.
  • Response: Celebrate the victory Jesus brings, thanking Him for the peace that triumphs over chaos.
