There’s much debate over who the GOAT is in Basketball between Lebron James and Michael Jordan. Whether you have a firm pick or have no care in the world about basketball, you likely know these names as being dominant on the basketball court. Their skillset and leadership made it clear who was ruling the court and guiding where the ball would go. If they were on our pickup basketball team, all we’d have to do is just pass them the ball or do what they tell us to do and we’d likely win. Because they are THAT good and rule the court!
But what would happen if the rest of the team just completely disregarded each other? What if they didn’t communicate or support one another? This would cause chaos on the court!
Here, Paul is telling the Church of Collossee the importance of unity in the Church. He’s teaching them that the peace of Christ isn’t just an individual having peace, but also a peace that characterizes the Church body. When we let God be the ruler in our hearts, He guides and directs us, bringing peace. But we’re called to peace with our community as well!
- Bottom Line: The peace of Christ should rule in our hearts. When life feels hectic, we can turn to Him to center us.
- Response: When you feel stressed today, take a moment to pray for Christ’s peace.
