The Joy of Being Chosen
We like the people who like us. It gives us a sense of acceptance. Sometimes, though, we are not always liked for who we are, and this can lead to feeling unwanted.
However, God never rejects us. Romans 8:15 points out that we’ve been chosen and adopted by Him through His Spirit. Even if we’ve felt unwanted and isolated, God chooses us. His followers get to call Him Father. When we receive this adoption, we are longer given over to slavery and fear. Those negative feelings are associated with the works of the flesh, which previous lessons have pointed out we are no longer subjected to.
After God adopts us, He calls us to help fulfill His purpose here on earth, much like a work boss selecting us for a special assignment. The difference is that because God chose us, when we mess up, He gives us grace and love to try again. He wants us to choose Him every day just as He sacrificed His Son to choose us. We can look to Him for direction and insight into what He’s thinking to show us how to give grace and love to His other children, accepting our place as His sons.
