Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
Loosed from Fear
Have you ever felt a tightness in your chest resulting from fear? It could be the fear of losing your job, the fear of speaking in public, the fear that things won’t work out… If you have been in such a situation, you’ll know that nothing anyone can say to you would change what you feel.
I’m not sure when I first experienced those crippling feelings of fear, but looking back I remember vividly the point when it all escalated. I was all of 14, preparing for my tenth grade board examinations. As the date drew nearer, I became more and more anxious. This wasn’t the butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of nervousness; it was a kind of fear that left me waking up at night with a paralyzing feeling of dread. These fearful feelings lingered with me through my college years and even into adulthood. I was acutely aware that I needed help and began to ask God to deliver me. It took a little while, but it was only when I fully understood just how He loves me that I was loosed—completely and totally.
If you are reading this today, you must know that fear is not of God. It is of the devil! He wants you to believe the lie that God is not good, that God is not for you but against you.
The good news is that God wants to set you free from fear—any and every kind of fear! He wants you to know you can trust Him; He is looking out for you. He wants to envelope you in His love, where no harm can ever come to you and He says to you, I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for (Jeremiah 29:11 MSG).
As you read this, I pray that the love of God would invade your heart and melt away all fear.
Prayer
Father God, I ask for a fresh revelation of Your perfect love that casts out all fear. Help me know that You’ve truly got my back. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
