Safe in His Lap

As children, we often experience the joy of running into our parents’ arms or lying down in their lap, where we find safety and comfort. As we grow older, we find comfort in other relationships. It could be a relationship with a spouse, a loved one or even friends.
But human relationships, which we so often lean on, have a tendency to let us down. As a result, we feel very lonely, broken, and confused; maybe, unlovable or even unloved. During these moments, we are hurting inside.
There is wonderful news from the Word of God for all who have been let down by human love. In Zephaniah 3:17, God says, The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save. He will quiet you with His love; He is a loving God who wants to gather you up in His lap and remind you how much He cares about you. There is nothing you can do to deserve His love or to make Him love you more; He just loves you, no strings attached.
Instead of being tough, sophisticated and self-sufficient, it is better to allow yourself to crawl into Jesus’ lap and pour out your deepest feelings to Him, thus opening yourself up to the healing flood of His grace. Let Jesus remind you of who you really are and how much you are really worth. Allow Him to demonstrate His power to heal your deepest hurts.

Lord, how comforting it is to run into Your loving arms! You alone have the power to heal my deepest hurts. Amen.
