Relax, There’s No Need to Fret!
Jesus was gruesomely murdered on the cross of Calvary. His disciples saw it all. Their hero, their champion, was no more. They watched helplessly as His body was laid in the tomb. What was going on inside the minds of all of Jesus’ disciples? Did they feel let down? Deserted? Discouraged? This man had spoken such wonderful things to them and demonstrated the power of God right before their eyes. Where was He now? They failed to recollect His words, that He would rise again on the third day. Peter was the first to adjust, a few days later by saying, “I’m going fishing.” The others followed. In other words, they were going back to their old ways, forgetting that Jesus said that He would never leave them alone. That night they caught nothing. They did not recognize Jesus on the shore calling after them, saying, “Cast your net on the right side.” Didn’t this line sound familiar? So they cast their net on the right side and caught a huge catch of fish, so large that they were not able to draw the net in. Their eyes were now open and they recognized Jesus.
Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35). How often do we let a difficult situation or circumstance get the better of us? We forget the wonderful promises of God and we fret, get angry or run to the doctor. The next time a tough situation occurs, sit down and remember what God promised us. Is it a healing you need? Repayment of a debt? Peace of mind? For with God nothing will be impossible (Luke 1:37). Ask Him for the impossible; believe He will give it to you and you shall have it.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I fret when a difficult situation arises. I behave as if You are not around. But I now trust in Your Word, that You will never leave me nor forsake me and I will always look to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
