The Pathway to Promotion
Daniel was among thousands of Jews who were captured, when the King of Babylon conquered Judah. These captives lived in exile in Babylon, an idolatrous nation. Their futures were bleak with no hope of freedom.
Although in exile, Daniel displayed an excellent spirit in whatever he was appointed to do. He served under four powerful rulers for more than 60 years and his demonstration of character and integrity caught the attention of each of them. King Nebuchadnezzar promoted Daniel and made him ruler over the whole province and chief administrator over all the wise men in the land because of his skill in interpreting dreams (Daniel 2:48). King Belshazzar recognized Daniel’s ability in solving riddles and explaining enigmas and promoted him to the third highest position in the kingdom (Daniel 5:29). King Darius was so impressed with the outstanding way Daniel dispensed his administrative duties, that he contemplated making him ruler over the whole realm (Daniel 6:3).
Beloved, God has deposited, in every Christian, His Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of excellence. How can you live a life of mediocrity when the Excellent One dwells in you? You don’t necessarily have to be the great leader of a nation or the owner of a large company to demonstrate excellence of character. God calls us to be excellent in our attitudes as well as in whatever we do. It may be the most menial task like sweeping the floors, or it could be administrative work of keeping the files or accounts. It’s not what you do that counts; it is how you do it.
Proverbs 22:29 says, Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
Prayer
Father, I thank You that I have Your Holy Spirit of excellence indwelling me. Help me to conduct my life with excellence in all that I am called to be and do, and give all the glory to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being.
