Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 279 OF 366

Stay on Course, Your Reward is Sure

No one expects their kind deeds towards others to go unnoticed. You may not expect an instant reward for the help you’ve extended to someone in need, but a heartfelt ‘thank you’ or a pat on the back would be more than welcome.

Have there been times in your life when you have tirelessly served at your job, church, home, and no one seemed to care? You put in long hours at work when others have called it a day and have gone home. You get to church two hours earlier to help set up everything for the pastor and the congregation to worship. You manage the home, kids, their school work and so on. This goes on for years and you wonder, ‘Hasn’t anyone noticed?’ ‘Why am I taken for granted?’ ‘Is there no reward for my labor?’ ‘God, where are You?’

You may never receive recognition from the people you’ve faithfully served, but God is not unjust. He will not forget your labor of love. He records all that you have done in His name. He expects you to diligently stay on course and not drag your feet, but be assured of the hope of your reward in Christ.

David was anointed king of Israel thirteen years before he ascended the throne. Joseph became the prime minister of Egypt thirteen years after God gave him the promise in his dreams. Abraham was blessed with a son twenty five years after God spoke to him. All of them believed God and patiently endured the times of testing, till the promise was fulfilled.

God notices when no one else does. He is your exceedingly great reward (Genesis 15:1). Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9).

Prayer
Father, sometimes I feel discouraged when my labor of love goes unnoticed. Help me to remember that You have not forgotten me, and through faith and patience I will inherit the promises. Amen.
