My Darkest Moment

DAY 7 OF 11

Have you ever felt more dead than alive? Hopelessness can oppress us, casting heavy shadows on everyday life. In our darkest times, it feels like the pain will never end. But maybe God has delivered you—lifted you from despair into hope. If you’ve endured a “dark night of the soul” and survived to see the rising sun, we urge you to share your story!

The Bible tells of a demon-possessed man living far from town—among the tombs. He was so overtaken by dark powers that he felt at home among the dead. Naked, cutting himself with rocks, and screaming at everyone who passed, he was utterly tortured. His life was a waking nightmare.

Jesus did not avoid or rebuke him. Jesus delivered him from oppressive darkness! The evil spirits departed, and he became himself again.

Jesus, the most powerful one, doesn’t steal, control, or destroy. Jesus heals, restores, and sets captives free… He gives life abundantly! And he invites us to tell others about it. Before traveling on, Jesus told the man, “Return home and tell everyone how much God has done for you.” The story of his deliverance became the spark that lit a wildfire. Throughout the region, a flame of hope ignited. Masses heard the news of Jesus’ merciful power to deliver from the darkness. To give life and light.

Jesus later said it would be silly to light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Lamps are meant to give light to everyone, not be hidden away in the dark! Will you hide your story? Or will you let it light the way for others?

Time and again, the Bible shows Jesus using His authority to serve others, often choosing grief-stricken outcasts and sinners. God came in human form to humbly serve weak people like us. He loves us so much that He gave His life for us. He showed us what real power looks like—loving the unlovely and lifting up the weak.

Did God take you from living among the tombs to living in the light? Let your story speak of the powerful love of Christ! There’s someone who needs to know… what Jesus did for you, He will do for them, too! If you listen, you’ll hear Him whispering, “...tell everyone how I’ve rescued you.” Let God speak, and put someone specific on your heart today.

Lord, fill my heart with Your compassion and show me who needs to hear my story.

God, thank You for Your compassion—compassion that doesn’t shy away from those most tormented. Continue to move my heart today, Lord. Amen.
