My Darkest Moment

DAY 5 OF 11

Has God rescued you from a hopeless situation—a lengthy ordeal of suffering you thought might never end? Your story can bring hope to people whose endurance is dwindling—who feel like they’re slowly bleeding to death. You can tell them their pain is not insignificant to God. He reaches out to all who will come.

Perhaps your story resembles the woman in Mark 5, who’d been bleeding for 12 years. Poor as she was, she’d spent her life savings searching for a cure, only to bleed all the more. Nevertheless, she pushed through the crowd to touch Jesus’ robe, believing He’d heal her. And He did! She felt her body heal instantly!

Though Jesus was on His way to heal the daughter of a wealthy leader, He called out, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace—your suffering is over.” The dark despair of ever-worsening illness ended. She received healing and peace. The years of missing out on the joys of community life had ended. She was publicly welcomed—called “daughter” by the living God.

Jesus showed that His compassionate, equalizing love does not play favorites. Rejected and poor, or rich and powerful, we are all sons and daughters, and His generous offer of wholeness awaits all those in need.

We’re constantly bombarded with the lie that we’re unlovable unless we look a certain way, have an impressive job, or have lots of money and power. But Isaiah 40:29 says that God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak, and Romans 2:9 says He does not show favoritism.

Worldly standards that rank people’s worth by their status and wealth mean nothing to the one who created the world. Each one bears the image of God—each has eternal value. Social status, illness, or even sinfulness—don’t deter our God from extending love and help.

Just like this woman, God met you in your most desperate hour. Maybe someone’s kind words sparked hope. Maybe the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit scattered the darkness. So many suffering people still believe they’re not worth God’s time—not worthy of His love. But you are living proof that He sees and cares.

No one else can tell your story quite as you can. When you do, the light of Jesus will be reflected out through you. Pause today and let God show you how pleased He is to shine in you through all your weakness and beautiful uniqueness.

Lord, how did You specially create me to be a vessel of Your truth?

Thank You, Jesus. Lord, help me to keep reflecting on what You’ve spoken to me throughout the day. Amen
