From Insecurity to Godly Identity: My Path to FreedomSample
Open our eyes, God!
"That's it—I'll never be able to get myself out of this mess! I'll never live up to all the expectations!" If these are your thoughts right now, there is one thing I want to tell you: "You're right!"
Common sense may not be enough to help you find a clever solution to your situation right now—that's why I exhort you to purposefully see it through "God's eyes." I know that was the case for me, as there was no clever solution I could come up with at the lowest points of my life to save myself.
In 2 Kings, the Bible tells us that the king of Syria had sent troops in the middle of the night to surround and capture the prophet Elisha. In the morning, Elisha's servant saw the army surrounding the city and ran to him in despair. The servant cried out, "...'Oh, master! What shall we do?'" (2 Kings 6:15, MSG) Do you know how Elisha reacted?
He reassured him, saying, "...'Don't worry about it—there are more on our side than on their side.'" (2 Kings 6:16, MSG) I'm sure the servant exclaimed, "I don't see anything, Elisha! What do you mean?!"
"Then Elisha prayed, 'O God, open his eyes and let him see.' The eyes of the young man were opened and he saw. A wonder! The whole mountainside full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha!" (2 Kings 6:17, MSG, bold added)
You may not see it, but God is always fighting for you!
You may be surrounded by expectations and problems right now that exceed your human capacity. Maybe you're even struggling with severe identity issues, making choices in this battle that may have a lasting impact on your life—physically and spiritually.
Today, ask God to open your eyes to see that you are not alone in your struggle. Behind the problems you're perceiving is a powerful God who's asking you to trust Him! Behind the problems and insecurities is a whole army of godly wisdom, solutions, answers, and help waiting for you!
I am praying that God will open your eyes to see His truth, just like He opened the eyes of Elisha's servant! His Word declares this promise to hold tightly to today: "...'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'" (John 8:31-32, NKJV)!
You are enough, and everything you need is within reach when you reach out to God.
You are a miracle!
