From Insecurity to Godly Identity: My Path to FreedomSample
This is probably not what you expected…
May I share with you a nickname that I have? My dad lovingly calls me "the holy catastrophe," haha—and he's right! Looking at my life today, I should be anywhere but where I am. My testimony is not necessarily "pretty," but my story is chock-full of God's miracles!
As you may know from previous emails, my past was marked by a life-threatening eating disorder. Through this struggle, I should have died—but I didn't. After receiving healing from my eating disorder, I thought I'd walked through the toughest part of my life, only to have to overcome the trauma of being assaulted. Once again, I wanted to die—but I didn't. My tiny body and frail soul were incredibly tender and broken at this point. I ended up in an emotionally abusive relationship just a few years later. I thought I'd healed and gotten stronger, but that was not the case. My would-be fiancé replaced me with a younger woman who got to wear the "ring," and I became increasingly depressed as my life fell apart. I wanted to die—but I didn't.
This is my story. This trauma could have defined me, but my identity is different today because I have seen God's incredible power through my story. Today, because I've seen it with my own eyes, I am someone who believes that the impossible can become possible through Christ! :-)
Maybe you, too, have a story of pain and struggle. But I'd like to encourage you—no matter your story, miracles are possible for you, too! This is a gift that comes with faith in Jesus! (see Mark 9:23, NKJV) Even if that's hard for you to believe today, trust God that He didn't bring you this far just to leave you. When He says, "'...I am with you always...'" (Matthew 28:20, NKJV), it's absolutely true! There are miracles in every single one of the wounds you carry. I can tell you this with certainty because God confirms it for us in His Word:
"O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive…"! (Psalms 30:3, NKJV)
This is what He wants to do for you, too. As you're waiting for your miracle today, God wants to give you peace that is here to stay! Through trusting Him, you will find security in your identity in Him, regardless of the wounds your past holds.
I am praying for you!
You are a miracle!
