Your New Life in Christ

DAY 2 OF 6

Good Fruit

The enemy has now been defeated and rendered powerless in our lives because of the price Jesus paid. The enemy’s last-ditch effort is to convince us that our past is still relevant. He will continually try to convince us that the things we have gone through, our upbringing, and that which has been done or said to us are what still define our lives - THIS IS A LIE!

Let’s bring more clarity…

“For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit." -

The emphasis in this verse is not on the fruit - it’s on the tree. A good tree bears good fruit. In the same way, an apple tree bears apples. If an apple tree bore oranges, it would be unnatural- as it wasn’t producing the fruit it was created to produce. Similarly, as children of God, our new nature bears good fruit.

A tree always bears the fruit of its kind! An apple tree doesn’t try to produce apples or even think about producing apples - it just does because it’s an apple tree. In the same way, we don’t have to try to produce good fruit, it’s simply an expression of who we are and what our life has now become through Jesus Christ.

If we, as children of God, continue to see ourselves as sinners, we will continue to bear the fruit of sin. The very things we don’t want to do, we will do because we still see ourselves that way.

However, as we begin to see ourselves the way God sees us and believe what God says about us, our lives will begin to reflect the nature of our new lives as children of God.

Questions:

  1. What kind of fruit is your life producing?
  2. Do you see yourself as a sinner or a child of God? Why?
  3. What are some things you can do to shift the way you see yourself?

About this Plan

Your New Life in Christ

Through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, we have been redeemed back into union and communion with God. We are now new creations and citizens of Heaven. We have a new identity and a new reality. We will break down our identity, reality, and faith and love - the two key elements of our new life in Christ.
