Ekidz Devotional: All About Creativity

DAY 2 OF 4

Creative Goodness

The world around us is full of marvels and wonders that show God’s creative goodness.

Take the wood frog, for example; it survives intense cold by freezing its own blood. Or the sea cucumber, which has mastered turning its solid body into a giant puddle to slip through cracks in rocks.

God’s beautiful and good creation is all around us, and we can look for His goodness everywhere we go.

In Genesis, whenever God created something, He saw it and said it was GOOD. God shaped our world and us for our good and His glory!

But that leads us to a big question — if God creates good things, where do bad things come from?

The bad things come from sin, which is when we mess up and do things that don’t honor God. Sin distracts us and causes us to focus on ourselves instead of God’s goodness. But there’s great news! God sent Jesus, who conquered and defeated sin. Ephesians 5:8 says, “For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord… ”

When we have a relationship with Jesus, He helps us live as children of light and look for God’s goodness in and around us instead of focusing on distractions.

That means when you follow Jesus, you’re free to experience all the good things God created for you.

Ask yourself: What are some good things God created? What distracts us from seeing the good things God creates?

Challenge yourself: Look around at God’s masterpiece and make a mental checklist of all the wonderful things He created in and around you.

Pray: God, thank You for Your amazing creation! Help me to live as a child of light by showing others Your goodness, righteousness, and truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
