Amazing Grace
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and the things that are not – to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.”
It is in humility that we experience repentance and forgiveness. God gives grace to the humble. Those who are foolish, weak, lowly and forgotten often recognize their need for God’s grace and saving power. The gospel of God’s grace is still good news to them. The Khmu of Southeast Asia and the Dalits of India are experiencing God’s salvation and elevation is significant ways. Jesus came as a humble peasant into a poor family – not by accident, but by design. God’s salvation story is full of characters who have been transformed, not because they deserved grace, but because they recognized how desperately they needed grace. When all those stories are told in glory, no one will boast before God. All of us will fall to our knees in grateful praise for God’s amazing grace.
Lord Jesus, I humble myself before you and thank you for your amazing grace in my life. All I have comes from you. Thank you.
