God’s Revelation in History
Acts 7:2, 3
“The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham…‘Leave your country and your people…and go to the land I will show you.’”
Acts 7: 8, 20
“…he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision…Moses was born, and he was no ordinary child.”
Stephen’s speech to the Sanhedrin in defense of the gospel was an historical journey from Abraham, through the prophets to Jesus, the Righteous One. He laid the foundation for God’s revelatory nature and covenant keeping nature through Israel’s history.
Do we take the time to lay the same foundation as we share the gospel with others?
Like a tree with no roots is a gospel presentation of salvation by faith in Christ without understanding the nature of God, his covenants, his wrath against sin and his promises for a Messiah. We serve the God of history, who desires to reveal Jesus to us today.
Father God, thank you for your word and the revelation of your nature throughout history. Enable me to lay this same foundation.
