Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample

Rising Above
Acts 16:18
“…Paul…said to the spirit, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!’ At that moment the spirit left her.”
Acts 16:25
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.”
Paul and Silas walked with God’s authority and peace. With authority they commanded unclean spirits to leave people, regardless of the consequences. When they were beaten and jailed, they worshiped God because of who he was. Their peace, security, love and authority all came from God. The capacity to worship while bloodied and beaten in jail indicated their joy came from within, from the Spirit of God, not from their circumstances. With Christ’s presence and authority in our lives, we too can rise above our circumstances and enjoy the fellowship of the Lord wherever we are.
Lord Jesus, you are my Lord, my leader and my example. Your faithfulness in suffering inspired Paul and Silas and inspires me as well. Fill me with your Spirit today so that I can sing your praises.
