Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Eternal Life – Now
John 5:39-40
“You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”
John 5:24
“Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”
When we deny that Jesus still speaks today through his Spirit, but we hold to the authority and inerrancy of God’s word, are we not doing the same thing that Jesus warned the Pharisees about?
Do we too believe the scriptures can save us? John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-10.
Jesus is calling us to come to Him and listen. He is calling us to a relationship that is two way, full of life and daily communication. He is calling us to faith in the atonement of our sins, but also, faith in the reality of God in Christ who loves us and wants a relationship with us.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you are speaking today to me – through your Word, through your Spirit within me, and through others in your Body. I give myself to you again this day – for your glory.
