Barriers to God’s Power and Glory
2 Kings 5:10-11
“Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, ‘Go wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.’ But Naaman went away angry…”
What barriers do we have that limit our experience of the power of God in our lives?
Naaman was proud and compared the Jordan River to the rivers of Damascus. He despised the simple command to ‘wash and be cleansed’.
In what areas of our lives has pride robbed us of our freedom and healing?
Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, lusted after the money and clothing Naaman had offered Elisha. He used the power of God to benefit himself personally. Gehazi valued money more that the power of God and brought judgment on himself and his family.
Can God trust his power to us, or will we too turn that power into opportunities for personal gain?
Elisha valued God’s presence and the Spirit’s power above all else. He became God’s servant for the display of God’s glory.
Lord Jesus, I repent for pride, selfish gain and undervaluing the power of your Spirit in my life. Fill me with your Spirit, for your glory.
