Listening To The Word - 1 Year

DAY 170 OF 365

Impartation or Information?

2 Kings 2:1-2, 4, 6, 9
“When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.’ But Elisha said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.’ So they went down to Bethel…‘I will not leave you’ … ‘I will not leave you.’…[Elijah said], ‘Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.’ ‘Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,’ replied Elisha.”

There is a persistence and a tenacity of faith that Elisha expressed which marked his life. Elisha desired an inheritance of spiritual blessing not material blessing. He knew that what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

How tenacious are we concerning the things of God and the things of the Spirit?

Do we pursue God and his servants so we too can learn and receive impartation of the things of God?

Elisha understood that impartation was much better than information. Impartation of a double portion of Elijah’s spirit would stay with Elisha for a lifetime and affect everything he did. Information would have value for a season, but would not necessarily transform him.

What kind of inheritance and blessing are we pursuing in God’s kingdom?

Lord Jesus, I pray for a greater impartation of your Spirit in my life, for your glory.
