All
Romans 3:22-24
“This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.”
Righteousness, or right standing with God, is a gift that he gives, not a wage that we earn. All have sinned and broken God’s righteous requirements. All have been given the opportunity to believe Jesus Christ and receive his sacrifice for our sins. There are no different levels of sin or of our need for God’s grace. We are all in need of God’s mercy.
Why is this so hard for some to accept?
Pride blinds us to our need for God. Pride blinds us to our own sin. We rationalize our sin choices and try to manage our sin through counter balancing with good deeds. We compare ourselves to others whose sins seem more evil than ours. The simplicity of the words, “all have sinned” and “all who believe,” cuts through our sin management schemes and calls us to surrender.
What are we waiting for?
Lord Jesus, thank you for freely justifying me in your sight by your grace. Thank you for forgiveness and freedom.
