DAY 7 OF 10

LIVING BEYOND: What I Fear

I will keep moving forward because I know God is with me.

Lions are incredibly strategic animals when it comes to hunting and killing their prey. The male lion stands in open view for its prey to see as a form of intimidation, while the lioness hides out of sight ready to attack when least expected.  The fear of what’s ahead keeps the prey from moving forward, leading it straight into the very thing that wants to take it down.

We often respond the same way when it comes to fear in our own lives. Instead of moving forward, we try to save ourselves by running in the opposite direction. However in doing so, we find ourselves operating in more uncertainty and confusion.

Fear is something we all face, whether it’s a new opportunity or stepping away from a relationship. Fear has the ability to  keep us from moving forward into what God has for us.  But God never intended to let the fear we feel keep us from the purpose He has given each and every one of us.

Isaiah 41:10 tells us, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be discouraged, because I am your God.” No matter what we feel, we have the choice to believe that our God is greater than the fears we face.

This doesn’t mean we won’t be afraid. It means that despite our fears, God gives us the courage to take one step at a time. God is not asking us to overcome all of our fears at once, but is simply asking us to trust Him with each step of the way. We can face our fears with confidence because we know that God loves us and His presence goes with us wherever we go.

Today, despite your fear, know that God is with you. He loves you and wants to give you the courage to step out in the very thing you’re afraid of. Who knows? Maybe it’s the next step that will take you where God wants you to be.

MOTION: Living Beyond

This devotional is inspired by Motion Worship’s song, BEYOND, and is meant to help take you on a path to experience the presence and power of God’s friendship in your life. But, you will only get out what you put in. So lean in, and invite the Holy Spirit to show you which areas of your life He is waiting for you to surrender.
