Our God-Given Gifts
by Kimberly Johnson
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen." — 1 Peter 4:10-11
Groom: Our culture often promotes the idea of self-reliance and personal achievement, teaching us that our skills are purely a result of our hard work and are ours to use as we wish. But God has a different perspective. Our gifts and talents are given by Him and are intended for His purpose. We are called to use these gifts to bless others and point them to Jesus, not ourselves. God promises to provide all we need to use these gifts for His glory. Yes, hard work is important, but our effort is for Christ, fueled by the strength He provides. When a rider turns a good barrel, clears a jump, or wins a ribbon, it’s important to remember who it’s from, who it’s through, and who deserves the glory. God has blessed you so that you can bless others in His name.
Tack: 1 Peter 4:10-11
Ride: Recognize that your talents are gifts from God. Commit to using these gifts to serve Him by serving others.
Cool Down: Take some time today to thank the Lord for the talents He has given you and the opportunity to glorify Him and serve others.
