A Year of Prayer: Season One Weekday Devotionalsنموونە
Have you ever seen ‘ice curling’? Ice curling is casting a stone or puck over a smooth bed of ice to reach a line at the other end of the rink. It is an Olympic sport and a tough one at that. Any hint of shaved ice or imperfection on the ice will alter the course of the stone and affect the direction.
‘Curlers’ are team members who use brooms to ‘sweep’ in front of the stone to reduce friction and make the way straight for the stone. They are strategic in how fast or how heavily they sweep as all eyes are on this stone swiftly hurtling towards its intended destination.
We are ‘curlers’ of our own kind. The stone rolls away from the tomb! Isaiah 51:1 says, ‘Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn.’
We must sweep quickly. We must be ever ready, watching the path the stone is taking to ensure we are also going in the right direction.
Action: Share with someone all you’ve learnt this week as you’ve reflected on wilderness.
Prayer: God, what are you asking of me in this prayer journey?
