A Year of Prayer: Season One Weekday Devotionalsنموونە

‘John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.”’
Why was John ‘calling in the wilderness’? Why not the public square and marketplaces? Why not come in the 21st century, now with the arrival of social media and international networking opportunities? Think of the exponential possibility for growth and sharing, getting the message to all corners of the globe at once, in every language, 24/7.
Instead, our Saviour calls on the unlovable, unloved, and unlovely to operate in unseen spheres and spaces. God doesn’t need our personal influence, shared glory, or any form of our own endorsement to spread God’s message. All God requires is that we have hearts that proclaim God’s name wherever we are - and the people are drawn to God through that alone.
Action: Read the scripture aloud. What new thing do you notice this time?
Prayer: God, what are you asking of me in this prayer journey?
