21 Days of Prayer and Fasting With Rock City Churchنموونە
DAY 16: MY HOUSEHOLD
Read: Joshua 24:15; Acts 5:42; Acts 20:20; Acts 12:12; Acts 10:2; 1 Peter 4:8-9
Most of us are familiar with a verse from the book of Joshua that states, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” When was the last time you consciously thought about the environment that you are creating within your home? Whether you live alone, or your household is busting at the seams, each of us has a role to play in creating an atmosphere that fosters Christ-like intentionality.
All throughout the New Testament, ministry occurred in the church and in the home. The Gospel was taught both in public and private settings, and we see repeatedly the role that the household played in the spreading of the Gospel.
Much discipleship happens within the home. From the time we spend communing with God and building our own faith, to the conversations we have with those around us, creating space for these moments requires intentional thought. Consider how you might more intentionally build a household that fosters an atmosphere of hospitality and that earnestly seeks and serves the Lord.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that You bless my household and fill it with Your presence. May Your love, peace, and joy be felt in every room. Give me vision for how I can intentionally create environments that foster time spent abiding in You. And finally, I pray that miracles happen within my home, and that those who are lost are led into a saving relationship with You.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. What is your vision for your household? How does it align with God’s vision?
2. How can you make your home a place of worship? Are there certain areas of your home that can be set aside for prayer?
3. Are there practical ways that you can serve others in your home?
