No Regrets

DAY 3 OF 5

Forgiveness Is Key

Why is forgiveness important? First of all, you and I have been forgiven. God said in His Word that He would remove our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west. Imagine a straight line that goes on infinitely. God says that He removes our transgressions as far as that line can travel into infinity. How great is His love! When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, our sins are gone, wiped away forever, and forgotten in the mind of God.

Sin is heavy and binding. It produces death, and nothing good comes from it. We know that sin is pleasurable for a season, but it always comes with a cost. The beauty of the gospel is that with a simple, heartfelt confession the penalty for that sin is wiped away. What price did God have to pay for the penalty of your sin and mine? We know that it cost Him Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, dying on a bloody cross. Sin comes with a high cost.

Forgiveness is freeing. Forgiveness unlocks the chains that hold you captive to another’s influence. Forgiveness is the agent by which God allows healing and joy to come to your inner man. You are free, so be quick to forgive.

Intentional Living:

  • Forgiveness is a choice and decision of your will, so choose to forgive
  • We are purified and washed as we forgive our offenders; therefore determine to live every day with a forgiving spirit as the offenses come
  • God forgives and forgets, and so should we; do so by capturing those thoughts and replacing them with good thoughts
  • Enjoy your present to the fullest by forgiving people from your past; choose to release those negative emotions by laying them at the foot of the cross
