The Power of Prayer
I spent nearly every night—all night long—on my face in prayer. I cried out in great desperation. I could not imagine leaving this world early. I could not imagine leaving my family behind.
Persisting in prayer is confidently admitting to the Lord that you have no other alternative, and through your utter helplessness He can and will move. Persisting in prayer allows you to get out of the way.
Be prayerful, and in this you will overcome the regrets of your life and move in greater wisdom and understanding as you submit everything to the Lord. Prayer protects your heart from sin. Prayer opens you up to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Prayer helps to guard you against making poor choices. Prayer helps you to be prepared for good work. There is great power in passionate prayers. Regrets mount when we use poor judgment or make ungodly decisions or connections. God gave us prayer with all its different facets as a beautiful means of communicating with Him so that we can grow in maturity and out of a life filled with regrets.
E. M. Bounds once said, and I have found it to be true, that “God is waiting to be put to the test by His people in prayer. He delights in being put to the test on His promises. It is His highest pleasure to answer prayer, to prove the reliability of His promises.”
