RESET YOUR FAITH
"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see." Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)
If you’ve ever had a job for over 90 days, you’ve hopefully received some form of payment for it. Some of us get a check in the mail that we'll have to cash, and others get a direct deposit to their bank account. Both of these payment methods are considered reliable, even though at no point in this process do we see a physical dollar bill. You and I know that money is exchanged in a lot of different ways outside of cash, and we trust these processes. You can pay for things with a plastic card, you could use a chip, or you can touch your phone to a cash register, and boom, you bought it. We celebrate these types of advancements for moving money, and yet...when we think about "having faith in a God we cannot see," all our confidence goes out the window.
You want to know how faith works? Faith is the confidence that when God says something, it’s just as reliable as Him doing something. Faith is when God says, you are forgiven and you actually believe Him, while not continuing to live in shame. Faith is when you know that God has the power to heal, so you have the audacity to ask Him to do it. Faith talks to God, believing that He really hears you (Not just your pastor or your “really spiritual” friend, but YOU). It’s when God says, I will never leave you, so you start living like you’re not alone. Faith is trusting that God has no limits in the ways he can deposit life to you.
It's believing God can transfer courage to you when you’re discouraged and comfort when you’re hurting. He can develop endurance when times of anxiety and worry creep in. God writes checks, too, they’re called promises, and you can deposit them into your life and believe God will perform His word as He said He would. Faith is the ability to believe God’s word even before seeing God’s hand. God transfers His blessing to us in a lot of different ways, and by faith, we can receive them.
Today's Challenge: Identify an area where it has been difficult to see God at work. Now take a moment to recall times in your life where you recognize God's faithfulness.
