RESET YOUR FOCUS
"You will keep in perfect peace, all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!" Isaiah 26:3
What would happen if we removed the nature of God from this verse? It might sound something like: “Anxious fear surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with their circumstances and they constantly worry about the outcome. The Struggle 24:7”
When God is the fixation of your imagination, you’ll position your perspective towards peace, and develop confident trust. This means, that while your mind is in the middle of trying to balance all sorts of thoughts like your schedule, career, family, friendships, and plans for the future, there is a certain filter that changes how you think about, what you think about. God’s presence and God's word are where you’ll find this filter. Another way to identify your fixations is to examine your ruminations. It is like when a cow slowly chews cud, absorbing every nutrient in every blade of grass.
What pasture is your mind constantly revisiting? This could be a clear indication of what you’ve made your source of peace. If the word of God is going to have power over your brain, it must first have a place inside your mind. We must learn to take Him in, into the things that trouble us, into the motives that drive us, into the beliefs that shape us. We must learn to process and ponder His word because the Holy Spirit waters the seed of the word of God in us, to then produce the fruit of His peace inside us. A seed on the surface never grows, it must be planted and watered if it will ever produce its fruit.
Today's Challenge: Set aside some time to think about what you've been thinking about. What thoughts might you need to reset? Take a moment to pray through this area.
