Reason 1 to Love God's Word: Deliverance from Sin
Did you know that hiding God’s Word in your heart will keep you from sinning? It’s true! Psalm 119:11 tells us so.
Yes, God's Word will purify your heart and life. If you read, study, and memorize as much Scripture as you possibly can—letting it take root in your heart so that you really know the Word at a gut level—then it will produce noticeable results.
Hiding God’s Word in your heart will transform your mind and thought processes.
This is the kind of transformation God prescribes in Romans 12:2:
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2 NKJV).
As you learn to love, study, and memorize the Word, your thoughts will begin to change. You will start to think more like God thinks! And as the way you think changes, you will find yourself more and more immune to temptation!
Hiding God's Word in your heart will put you out of the sinning business.
Studying and memorizing God's Word with the help of the Holy Spirit will take the desire to sin right out of you. That’s a huge reason to love the Word of God, and to hide it in your heart!
