Living Out an Encounter

DAY 2 OF 7

DAY 2: Seek First God

We desire to make intentional decisions in our life to seek God first no matter what! God promises us that all these things will be added to us when we seek Him first. Blessings, breakthroughs, and purpose & joy are some of the things God will add to our lives when we make the simple decision to seek Him first!

This means that God becomes number 1 in every aspect of my life. In my studies at school, I seek first God and His Kingdom. In my sports and music, I seek first God and His Kingdom. I seek first God over my family and friends as well, and He brings blessing to those relationships and those parts of my life.

What does it actually look like to seek God first:

  • Schedule daily devotions + prayer as your first priority every day;
  • Ask for God’s wisdom in every situation you face;
  • Make decisions after asking God and praying to Him;
  • Be a person who desires God’s presence more than material things (friends, money, clothes, games TV etc.);
  • Adopt the character of the Holy Spirit as our default posture in our life.

As we seek God first, the Bible says God will give us the desires of our heart. The things that God has showed us--the dreams, visions and desires--He will give over to us when we seek Him first before anything else!

Prayer: God, we seek first you and your Kingdom. Help me become stronger in my faith to prioritize my time in the Word and in prayer. Amen.
