A Child's Guide To: God Is Bigger Than Bad Days

DAY 4 OF 6

Making Me Brave

I am the Lord, the one who encourages you. Why are you afraid of mere humans? They dry up and die like grass.
Isaiah 51:12 (CEV)

The time was coming. Gabby was going to have to walk into a new school, a new classroom, with a new teacher and new kids, and then go to soccer practice with a new coach and new team. She had already gone to the playground by her new house, and no one really played with her. And at her new church, everyone was really quiet.

Trying new things and meeting new people can be scary. No matter where you are, God is with you. And today’s Scripture reminds us that God is there to encourage you every step of the way. To encourage someone means to help make them brave!

So when you are faced with something that makes you feel scared, try to remember who is with you. (Here’s a hint: it’s Jesus!) Ask him to help you to be brave and strong. He will!

And then you will face all your new adventures with the help that comes from God. Don’t fear!

HERO TRAINING

Trying new things can be scary, but not when God is by your side. Draw a small picture of something that is scary to try. Next to it, draw a BIG God. Keep it somewhere as a reminder that God is bigger than your fears.

GOD'S WONDERFUL WORLD

Animals are brave, too! A sled dog named Togo helped save an entire town in Alaska by running very far in the freezing snow storm to bring a life-saving medicine to the people there.
