A Child's Guide To: God Is Bigger Than Bad Days

DAY 3 OF 6

Just Like Jesus

Day and night they never stopped singing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord, the all-powerful God, who was and is and is coming!”
Revelation 4:8b (CEV)

Imagine you are outside a fence, looking in at a perfect place. Everything is beautiful and happy. You really want to go in, but the guard looks at you and says, “No, we can’t have anyone in here who has ever been selfish.” Being selfish is thinking of yourself before you think of others.

Never been selfish? But everyone has been selfish at some point, at least in how they think! Knowing this, you turn away from the guard, sadly.

But then Jesus comes through the gate. He is perfect! He’s the only one who has never been selfish. He reaches his hand out to you and asks, “Want to come in?” And standing with Jesus made you not want to be selfish anymore.

God is holy, which means he is perfect. We could never be with him if we didn’t take Jesus’s hand. We do that by asking him to forgive us for all the wrong things we do. When we do, Jesus forgives us and makes us want to be holy, too.

HERO TRAINING

Jesus helps us become holy like him. What is something selfish you keep doing that you really wish you could quit? Ask Jesus to help you stop doing it.

GOD'S WONDERFUL WORLD

When Jesus makes us holy, we are changed! (Kind of like how a caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly!)
