Faith Over Fear: Transitioning to College

DAY 3 OF 10

Our Source Of Strength

College is tiring mentally, emotionally, and physically. Emotions are also heightened as you adjust to a new environment, which is fun, scary, sad, and amazing all at the same time. Let’s just say I was completely drained by the end of my first week at college… and classes hadn’t even started yet!

Unlike you and me, God has an unlimited amount of strength and power. He can fuel our days. While prayer and worship don’t have the same exact effect as the caffeine from an iced coffee, His love and strength have the ability to fill us up inside. Whenever I listen to worship music, spend time thanking God for my blessings, or read His Word, I end up with a sense of clarity and purpose. God wants us to spread His love and kindness through helping others, acting as Jesus would, and obeying His laws. Realizing our purpose in God’s eyes is rejuvenating. What an opportunity and gift it is to be able to please the Lord every day! He gives us the strength and energy to get through our days, hoping that we will choose Him over and over throughout our day.

Adjusting to the pace of college takes time. It is tempting to partake in every event and extracurricular, but be careful not to overcommit. Taking time for yourself is very valuable. Relax from time to time, and pray for peace and calmness amidst your busy schedule. The Lord will supply you with strength. He wants you to succeed in your ventures and glorify Him in the meantime. Before you reach for the third cup of coffee, sit still, take a few deep breaths, call on God, and allow His power and grace to fill your cup instead.

At the end of the day, lay your burdens on God. He can handle every burden in the world, so feel free to let yours go! Speak with Him honestly. Let God know the things you need taken off of your plate. After doing so, you will be able to rest and reset for tomorrow, knowing that a Greater Being is looking over you and all of your worries.

Prayer

Lord, You are our strength. Be with us always. Bless our bodies and minds, providing us with what we need to get through our days. In the midst of our busy schedules, help us to look up to You and acknowledge Your power. We worship You and know that You are the ultimate source of lasting energy. We are thankful for all of our blessings on Earth, but we pray that we are reminded of our unseen blessings as well. Thank You for this journey. Amen.
