Theology for Everybody: Romansنموونە

Paul is the most productive apostle, not to speak ill of any other leader in the New Testament. After Jesus, he’s the next towering figure. Much of the book of Acts records Paul’s life in ministry. He wrote 13 books of the Bible. He trained leaders. He walked thousands of miles. He planted churches. He endured controversy. He spent time in jail. He took beatings. How did one person get all that done? The answer is it took more than one person.
Throughout his writings, Paul names the people who helped him, his partners. We are going to meet some of them in Romans chapter 16. He says, “These people are praying. These people are giving. These people are traveling. These people are serving.” Everyone partners with him in a unique way.
If you’re going to accomplish anything, you must find your team. Paul says that he is coming to Rome on his way to Spain to find his team. He wants to know, “Who wants to go with me? Who wants to be a part of it? Who wants to give, and who wants to pray? Who wants to be on the supply line writing the checks? Who wants to be on the front line doing the work?”
A talented team beats an old star player every time. I don’t care what the sport is. You could have one person who is perhaps the best player in the history of that sport, but if they are up against a good team, then the good team will win every single time. It’s all about building the team and finding partners. If God has given you a vision, then part of your plan needs to be the provision and the partners. Who is going to do it with you? Who is going to go with you? Who will complement your giftedness and help you achieve God's vision?
Paul demonstrates that your resources are in your relationships. If you are in business, then call this “sales.” In life, you need resources to do something. If you are going to be someone who accomplishes things, then you must be a relational person. Paul tells the Roman believers, “I’m coming to see you, and I’m going to stay for a while so you can get to know me. We will build a relationship, but ultimately, I am looking for resources to get to Spain, preach the Bible, and plant more churches. More people need Jesus, and I ask if God is burdening you to partner with me.”
