Mentoring
Each of us is called to be a mentor in our special way. We are called to share our knowledge, experiences, time, etc., and to be a source of enrichment in the lives of others around us. We are not called to run after credit but to be selfless givers – to share the blessings we have with others. Mentors are motivated by love – love for God and people — to enable others to grow in grace and love for God. Mentors intentionally invest time, energy, and sometimes money in the lives of others.
I briefly worked in a company where people zealously guarded any information they had with themselves. They didn’t consider the information or knowledge as belonging to the company but as their personal property. Their thinking process was, ‘I struggled to gather this information, and with great effort, I made this document. How can I give it over to the other person? Let them struggle as I did.’ We, too, may harbor this type of attitude.
When we share the good that we do with others and guide others in any way, we get a joyful feeling that we have been of some use to the other person, making their life a little better and solving a little bit of their problem. What if they get the credit for it? Let them. Our job is to share and be there for them when they are in need.
Mentoring is never forced. We need to be there for someone who needs us. Start with the one who wants to grow, and also pray that the Holy Spirit will show you people who need to be guided.
Remember, great leaders do not walk alone but the ones who take others along with them. They don’t look for recognition but are satisfied with being of service.
Dear Lord, thank You for putting in my heart the desire to impact the lives around me. Help me share your hope and promises for Your glory with others. Amen

Greatness is achieved by living a life of discipline, and discipline is not achieved without rules. This stimulating study reminds us that it comes down to our choices. We have to give up our old, disarrayed life and live a disciplined, structured life. It does not happen at a moment’s notice – it’s a lifelong process.
