Fanatic Disciplineنموونە
Decide on a Life Rule
While deciding on the life rules to follow, we should be clear on the values, goals, and standards by which we would measure success. No two people may follow the same rule or practice a rule in the same manner; it will vary depending on the character and life situation of the individual.
Our intention for living a life of fanatic discipline is not to remain mediocre but to strive to achieve excellence. In our race to achieve excellence/success, we sometimes get sidetracked from our main objective – to seek the approval of God. Instead, we strive to seek the approval of men.
Success for a Christian should be, first and foremost, spiritual satisfaction, enjoying a richer, more fulfilling relationship with our Lord. Success in the workplace is important, but not at the cost of our principles and our spiritual lives.
Personal success should, in turn, become a blessing to those around us. It should not be hoarded but shared. Give credit to whom it is due and lift others on your way to success. In this world today, where every professional seems to be in the rat race, set your own pace and help your colleagues. Men may see this as a weakness, but God will not.
Instructions for Developing a Personal Rule of Life by the CS Lewis Institute gives us tools to decide on a life rule. It helps to evaluate ourselves in relation to the seven deadly sins and their opposites: sloth vs. fruitfulness, envy vs. love, greed vs. generosity, pride vs. humility, anger vs. gentleness, lust vs. chastity, and gluttony vs. self-denial.
When you commit to achieving greatness and employ fanatic discipline in your life, it may surprise you when you find many people rising up to support you in your endeavor. One person’s determination to improve himself/herself will cause a ripple effect and thereby bring about a positive change in our homes, workplaces, and society at large.
Lord, forgive me for the times I have strived for appreciation from people rather than from You. Let my goal in life be to always glorify You in everything I do. Amen

About this Plan
Greatness is achieved by living a life of discipline, and discipline is not achieved without rules. This stimulating study reminds us that it comes down to our choices. We have to give up our old, disarrayed life and live a disciplined, structured life. It does not happen at a moment’s notice – it’s a lifelong process.
